Donald Eugene "Gene" Richardson

July 21, 1933 ~ November 9, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Donald Eugene “Gene” Richardson, 84, of Clarksville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 9th 2017, at 1:39 am, at Continental Manor in Blanchester surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Hamilton County on July 21, 1933 the son of the late Vernon Hubert and Eva Tuttle Richardson.   He is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Barbara; three sons, Melvin Eugene of Blanchester, Michael Joe of Florida, Russell Ray (Shanin) of Wilmington; six daughters, Diane Lynn Richardson Taylor of Clarksville, Peggy Sue (Steve) Greene of Clarksville, Verna Kay Richardson of Blanchester, Anna Jean (Vince) Elliott of Clarksville, Marsha Lynn (Todd) Fentress of Columbus and Kathryn Marie Richardson of Blanchester; three sisters, Anna Bruce (Robert) Girdler, Bonnie Lee Rhodes and Ruth Ann Luttrell; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Larry & Vernon, a sister; Cleda Marie; 1 great-grandchild and all his closest and dearest friends.  He married Barbara Bowling Richardson at age 19, had nine children and divorced after 35 years but Gene and Barbara remained best friends until he died. He spent every holiday with his family and was much loved.  Gene had an infectious personality, humor, big blue eyes and beautiful smile. His true love was building houses. Even after retirement and was no longer able to, he still wanted to build.  Gene’s hobbies were fishing, hunting, and watching and listening to the Cincinnati Reds games. He was a diehard Reds fan. He was active during his life and after retirement he would go annually to Lake Maumee near Cleveland with his friends for a week of fishing and drinking (just the guys). He fished until a year before he passed and always dreamed of catching the big one. He was also very competitive and loved playing horseshoes, corn hole, darts, ping-pong, any kind of cards and Nintendo WII.  A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.  Memorial donations in Gene’s memory are directed to Continental Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for crafts and furnishings for the residents there.  The address is, 820 E.
