Elizabeth Gray Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Gray, (known as Ann or Sugarplum) of Wilmington, Ohio, died at the age of 78 years old on December 6, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Harry Gray of Wilmington, Ohio; her daughter, Kimberly Maus of Columbus, Ohio; her three grandchildren,: David Maus of Wilmington, Ohio, Alex Maus of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Jessica Maus of Columbus, Ohio; one great-grandchild, Marcus Will of Columbus, Ohio; sisters: Joan (Marshall) Kimmel of Bidwell, Ohio and Sue Henry of Jackson, Ohio; brothers, Larry (Phyllis) Brown of Kettering, Ohio and Mick (Claudia) Brown of Bremerton, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Laura Brown; her son, Timothy Gray; her brother, Dick Brown; and her son in-law, Rick Maus.

Ann was a woman who dedicated her life to education. She graduated from Rio Grande and Xavier University. She worked in several elementary schools in Ohio, primarily Miamisburg City Schools, Vinton County Schools, and Wilmington City Schools. Ann showed passion in the classroom for over 50 years before retiring. Retiring couldn’t keep her away from the students and the classroom for long. She returned as a volunteer at the elementary school her three grandchildren attended, Holmes Elementary, in Wilmington. She adored all the students she had the honor of teaching over her lifetime.

Family and friends of Ann say she was a fun, kind, loving, and compassionate person. If Ann was not in school, she spent her days surrounded by her grandchildren, daughter, husband, and her blue-eyed great-grand baby, Marcus. In her last years of life, she loved nothing more than watching and helping her blue-eyed baby boy learn and grow. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her and were touched by her kind heart.
