G. Dale Inwood

G. Dale Inwood, age 82, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Monday, April 23, 2018 at Ohio Living Cape May.  He was born October 24, 1935 in Clinton County the son of the late Willard D. and Lucille Gano Inwood.  Dale was a graduate and Class President of Wilmington High School class of 1954; he was also co-captain of the football team.  After graduating, he attended barber school and came back to Wilmington to work with his father-in-law Harold Bashore at the K and K Barber Shop in 1956.  Dale continued barbering at K & K Barber Shop, and eventually owned the business.  In 1982 he changed the name to Dale’s Barber Stylist, where he worked until his retirement.  Dale had been Vice President of the Cemetery Board of Sugar Grove Cemetery Association, Chaplain of the Wilmington Elks Club for many years, Chairman of the Public Defender Board, and longtime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he had served as Chairman of the Board, Elder, Deacon, and Chairman of the Men’s Fellowship.  Dale is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and his wife Mary Lou Inwood and Thad and his wife Jenny Inwood all of Wilmington; grandchildren, James G. and his wife Stella Inwood of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Elizabeth Inwood of Wilmington; step-granddaughter Elizabeth Wilcox; sister Ann and her husband Wally Applegate of Canton, Ohio; brother Richard and his wife Judy Inwood of Miamisburg; sisters-in-law Joyce Inwood of Fairborn, and Sue and her husband Frank Shaw of Wilmington; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, to whom he had been married 64 years, on September 19, 2017; daughter Connie Jean Inwood; sister Myllicent Inwood; and brothers Douglas and David Inwood.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 120 Columbus Street, Wilmington.  Pastor Tom Stephenson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Memorial Donations are directed to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 120 Columbus Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.  Brown Funeral Home is assisting the family.  For more information, or to sign our on-line register, please visit.www.arehart-brown.com of see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
