James Roger Steele, Sr.

James Roger Steele, Sr., of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019 to be with the Lord.  At his time of peaceful transition James was surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones.  James was born August 24, 1939 in Camargo, Ohio to Franklin Pierce and Virgie (Holliday) Steele.  He is 1 of 10 siblings, having 6 brothers and 3 sisters.  He is preceded in death by 7 of those siblings and survived by brother Paul (Rose) Steele, and sister Janet Moore.  James was father to 6 children, James (Jennifer) Steele, Jr., Michael (Patti) Steele, Vanessa (John) Zugg, Mark Steele, Kimberly (Rick) Thomas, and Monica (Joe) Miller.  James was also the loving grandfather of 16 grandkids, and 23 great grandkids.  James was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather.  He loved his Cincinnati Reds, Nature, listening to the birds sing, and word search puzzles.  Most of all he loved spending time with his loving wife Joyce (Rich) Steele.  They were married on December 21, 1957 and cherished every second of their inspirational journey.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.  Burial will follow in the Springfield Friends Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The family asks that memorial donations be made to Community Care Hospice, 1669 Rombach Avenue, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.  For more information, or to sign our on-line register, please visit www.arehart-brown.com or see our Facebook page Brown Funeral Home.
