Loretta Carol (Hatfield) Pence, age 71, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 3:50 a.m. at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born August 25, 1947 in Ross County, Ohio, the daughter of the Walter Ray and Doris Lucille (Kinnison) Hatfield. Carol was a wonderful, loving, and gentle soul who will be missed very much. Carol is survived by her daughter, Tina Sue Pence; son Robert Leigh Pence, Jr.; four grandchildren, Chad Stanforth, Tiffani Stanforth, and Cheyenne Gilbert, all of Ohio, and Kayla Pence of Texas; seven great grandchildren, three sisters, Linda (Bruce Nance) Carter, Sherry (Dan) Richmond, and Darla Price, all of Ohio, and brother Roger (Dar) Hatfield of Montana; and very special friends, Bill Johnson, Gloria Grimsley, and Scott Knisley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leigh Pence, Sr., and a little brother Walter Martin Hatfield. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Adena Cancer Center and Adena Hospice. According to her wishes, cremation will take place. Memorial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington is serving the family.
