Phoebe Henry Obituary

Phoebe Ellen Fife Henry,96, passed to eternal life on July 25, 2018 at Ohio living Cape May in Wilmington, Ohio.  Phoebe was born April 5, 1922 in New Antioch, Ohio the daughter of Marion and Blanche (Summers) Fife.  Phoebe attended the New Antioch School, and she graduated from Wilmington High School in 1942.  Phoebe married the love of her life, C. Robert Henry in 1942.  With her marriage, she and her husband moved to the family farm on Prairie Road near Wilmington.  They lived on the farm for 52 years until her husband’s health began to fail.  They moved to their home on Florence Avenue in Wilmington, and following her husband’s death in 1998, she continued to live on Florence Avenue until her move to Ohio Living Cape May Village in 2016.  Phoebe’s early life was difficult, as her mother died at an early age.  She faced many adult responsibilities at an early age.  Even with these challenges, her beautiful smile and heart always left everyone that she touched with a grace that was pure and special.  Phoebe was an intricate part of the family farm.  She was proud of the farm, her husband, and her three sons.  A hard dedicated worker, she was an immaculate housekeeper, cook, and hostess for family events.  Following her marriage, she became a member of First Christian Church in Wilmington, Ohio.  She enjoyed her ministry that included being a Sunday school teacher, deaconess, and member of the Christian Woman’s Ministry, where she served in many positions.  She particularly enjoyed the monthly meetings, church dinners and sewing days.  Phoebe also enjoyed being a member of a monthly bridge club, and she was a former member of the Modern Mother’s Club.  Preceding Phoebe in death include her parents, her husband Robert, brothers: Carl Fife, D M (Betty) Fife, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bonnie and Leo Snow, and a cherished great aunt and uncle, Hattie and Dr. Bert McKenzie.    Phoebe is survived by her sons: Dr. David (Kathy) Henry of Springfield, Ohio, Nial (Susan) Henry of Sabina, Ohio, and Bruce (Dorothy) Henry of Wilmington, Ohio, and a brother Joe (Anna Lee) Fife of Wilmington, Ohio.  Phoebe’s grandchildren are: Tom Henry, Deborah (Spiro Metallinos) Frost, Rachael (Matt) DeLeon, Adrienne (Hollis) Owens, and Michael Henry.  Her great grandchildren are: Eva DeLeon, Landon DeLeon, Hollis “Charlie” Owens, and Annabelle Owens.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece Phyllis (Ray) Mizak.  Funeral services for Phoebe will be held 2:00m p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Brown Funeral Home, 237 W. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 120 Columbus Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.  The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Ohio Living Cape May for the wonderful care support.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Christine Henry who was a true blessing in this time of transition.  For more information, or to sign our on-line register, please visit www.arehart-brown.com or see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
