Bernadine Mary (Wojnarski) Bolka

September 26, 1929 ~ April 22, 2022 (age 92)


Bernadine Mary Bolka, age 92, of Xenia, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at Shawnee Estates Senior Living in Xenia with family by her side.  She was born September 26, 1929, in Plymouth, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Joseph Stanley and Bridget (Bogdan) Wojnarski.  Bernadine enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.  She attended St. Brigid Catholic Church while living in Xenia, and later Ascension Catholic Church in Kettering.  Bernadine was a very giving and generous person; she will be truly missed.  She is survived by three sons, Stanley and his wife Randi Bolka of Wilmington, Edward Bolka of Carmel, California, and Thomas and his wife Tammy Bolka of Xenia; her grandchildren who were the love of her life, Andrew (Elizabeth) Bolka of Xenia, Ethan Bolka of Cincinnati, Alexander (Alexis) Bolka of Kettering, and Cecilia Bolka of Lexington, Kentucky; sister Marie Chicallo of Wyoming, Pennsylvania; very special niece Donna Askew of Plymouth, Pennsylvania, as well as several additional nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Bernadine is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bolka on August 9, 2011, and one sister Dorothy Askew.  Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.  Bernadine’s family would like to recognize and thank Shawnee Estates and Crossroads Hospice for their thoughtful and loving care.  Memorial donation in Bernadine’s memory should be directed to James Ranch Garden project online at: https://go.osu.edu/bernadinebolka or via mail to OSU Extension – James Ranch, 100 Fairground Road, Xenia, OH 45385 in care of Bolka – James Ranch. Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington, is assisting the family.  To leave on-line condolences, please visit www.arehart-brown.com, or see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
