Billie Jean (Bartlett) Vest

Billie Jean Vest (Bartlett), age 75, of New Vienna, passed away Monday October 6, 2025. She was born August 29, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late William Eugene Bartlett and Janet Cupp (Pastorius). Billie was a 1969 graduate of Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio, and later received an associate's degree in secretarial schooling before working at the Pentagon in Virginia. Upon returning to Ohio, Billie raised her family and enjoyed working at the Ahresty Corporation, where she later retired after forging many friendships. Billie was a homebody and an avid reader that truly enjoyed the simple things in life such as visiting her birth State in the picturesque mountains of Western Pennsylvania. She loved her family dearly and especially adored her grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Shelley M. (Jamie) Knowles and James E. (Danita) Vest III, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Peyton (Halee) Vest of Sinking Springs, Nathan Vest of Sabina, Zack Vest of Wilmington and Mariah Knowles of Wilmington; siblings, Jack (Jeannie) Cupp of Florida, James Cupp of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, Charles Jeffrey Cupp of Arizona, Margaret Metz of Delaware, Ohio, and Patricia (Scott) Williams of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Billie is preceded in death by her father William Eugene Bartlett; her mother and stepfather Janet (Pastorius) and Jack Cupp; and her grandparents Robert and Floretta Pastorius. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday October 20, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday October 21, 2025, with a brief visitation held at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Joel Richter of Faith Lutheran Church of Wilmington will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington.
