Carolyn Joyce Hughes, age 87, of Jamestown, formerly of Paintersville, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Miami Valley South Hospital in Centerville, Ohio after a brief battle with pneumonia. She was born December of 1937, the daughter of the late Herman and Leah Belle (Houseman) Brown. Carolyn had worked for many years at Rink’s Department Store in Xenia, following her time with Rink’s, she dabbled in real estate. Carolyn is survived by three daughters, Rhonda (Ed) Hall of Xenia, Robin (Bob Jaynes) Cooper of Paintersville, and Rae (Mike) Pease of Jamestown; grandchildren, Craig (Morgan) Hughes, Shawnda Wilson, Ben (Morgan) Cooper, Ron (Lindsay) Pease, Steffen Pease, and Leah Pease; great grandchildren, Daulton Wilson, Lakota Cundiff, Lilly Hughes, Waylon Hughes, Bailee Cooper, and Kami Cooper; great great grandchildren, Raven Wilson and Lucian Wilson. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elton Hughes; son Ron Hughes; and two brothers, Ronnie Brown and Kenny Brown. Per her wishes, visitation, funeral services, and burial in Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Carolyn’s family would like to make a special “Thank You” to the Jamestown\Silver Creek Township Fire/EMS Department, and especially Steve Payton, for the thoughtful, and wonderful care extended to Carolyn.
