Claey “Spanky” Green, age 53, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Bethesda North Hospital, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born on November 30, 1967, in Wilmington, Ohio. He was the son of late Corwin and Janis Green.
He is survived by his partner of nine and a half years, Sherri Keller, one daughter, Rhyann Green, two sisters, Angela Hurst and Lisa Neville, two nephews, Corey Green and Chris Hurst, and numerous cousins and friends.
Claey worked in Field Maintenance at Western Water Company for nearly 28 years. He graduated from Clinton Massie High School in 1986. He also spent over a decade volunteering for the Clinton County Fair. He was later elected to the Clinton County Fairboard and served for many years. Claey loved watching the tractor and truck pulls every year, and often acted as a flagger for many events. Additionally, he was a certified notary. His other passions included meteorology, craftsmanship, and fireworks.
Claey was a loving father, a devoted partner, a gracious brother, and a loyal friend. He touched the lives of so many people and created a wide array of fond memories and lively conversations with everyone he met. He was a wonderful, wise, and witty man; his presence was felt strongly across the community and he will be missed deeply by all.
A celebration of life for Claey will be held on Tuesday, October 5th from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Clinton County Fairgrounds Expo Building.
