Corwin "David" Hale, age 87, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 7, 2026. He was born February 15, 1939, at Hale Hospital, Wilmington, the son of the late Corwin Myron and Kathryn (Moore) Hale. David was a 1957 graduate of Wilmington High School, a graduate of Wilmington College and had earned a Master's Degree in business from Xavier University. David had also proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force as a nuclear weapons officer. In his professional life, David was the owner of Hale Manufacturing in Wilmington and Electric Eel Manufacturing in Springfield, Ohio. In his personal life he was a very articulate and detail-oriented man. Among his interests were traveling, restoring and collecting automobiles, working on model airplanes and gliders, as well as racing his Lola in the SCCA and SVRA divisions. David was always at his happiest being in the air, as he loved his time spent flying in his Cessna. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Debra Hale (Brumley); his daughters, Amy Hale, Jennifer (Gary) Riddle, and Sarah (Dustin) Miller, all of Wilmington; his stepsons, Chad (Tammy) Carey of Wilmington, Curt (Villa) Carey of Washington Court House, and Mike (Meghan) Carey of Columbus; special family member, Loey Stayden of Cincinnati; his sister, Ann (Mike) Noftsger of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Avery and Claire Greenlees, Wyatt, Emma and Roy Riddle, Delaney and Logan Miller, and Spencer, Madison, Lauren, Shania, Christian, Cassie, Catherine, Colton, Prescott, Conrad and Miles Carey; and his great-grandson, Carter Carey. David was preceded in death by his parents Corwin Myron "Kersey" and Kathryn Hale. Public visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. A short service will follow. Burial with military honors will immediately follow services at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard of Wilmington in honor of David's service to his Country in the United States Air Force.
