Cynthia Saylor Obituary

Cynthia L. Saylor, age 67, of Lees Creek, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Clinton Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.  She was born May 14, 1955, in Washington C.H., Ohio the daughter of the late William Lee and Charlotte (Sheley) Bean.  Cynthia’s greatest joy in life was her late husband Dan, her children, and grandchildren.  She was the epitome of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Cynthia spent more than 40 years in education.  She was a long-time educator in the East Clinton School District, and later with the Laurel Oaks Career Campus, teaching Home Economics, which later became Family Consumer Sciences, in which she was a National Board-Certified Teacher.  While at East Clinton, she had also served as Class Advisor many times, was coach of the Academic Team, Cheer Leading Advisor, and was the advisor for the F.H.A (Future Homemakers of America) and F.C.C.L.A. (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America).  Cynthia was more than a teacher; she considered her students her kids.  After retirement from teaching, she served 1 term on the East Clinton Board of Education, the 2 terms on the Southern Ohio Education Service Center Board.  She decided that she needed to get back with the students, and gave up serving on the Boards, and Substitute taught for several years.   In addition to her involvement in school, she was also involved in 4-H as the longtime advisor to the “Brilliant Bunch”, she enjoyed cooking and baking, but gave away much of what she created.  She, along with her husband, had a deep care and concern for kids, they always wanted to make sure every child had the opportunity to enjoy everything possible.  Cynthia and Dan ran “Me and My Gang Eatery” Restaurant in Sabina; and she and her daughters had “Me and My Girls” gift shop in New Vienna and Sabina.  Lastly, Cynthia was an Avid fan of the U.C. Bearcats, and a follower of the Wayne High School Volleyball Team, which her daughter Sarah coaches.  Cynthia is survived by three children, Sarah (Bill) Miller of Franklin, Emily (Chris Cordray) Pinkerton of Sabina, and Will (Amanda) Saylor of Sabina; six grandchildren, Bill3, Kiarra, Lilly, Landen, Ava, and Olivia; sister Claudia (Jim) Hayes of Circleville; brothers, William L. “Billy” Bean of Lees Creek, and Noel (Lori) Bean of Lees Creek; several nieces and nephews; great friends, Bev and Gary Garrison of Wilmington and Sue Contini of Lima; and the many fellow educators and students that she has spent a lifetime working with.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, Dan Saylor on March 8, 2020; and her mother and father-in-law Martha and Barney Saylor.  Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial in David’s Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio will take place privately at the convenience of the family.  Because Cynthia was so appreciative of the loving care that VITAS Hospice had provided for Dan, the family asks that memorial donations be made to VITAS Hospice, 11500 Northlake Drive, Suite 400, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249; or to the Children’s Charity of the donor’s choice.  To leave an on-line condolence, please visit www.arehart-brown.com, or see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
