Delford Ernest “Dowdy” Jackson, age 95, of the Lumberton area, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his home with his wife by his side. He was born March 15, 1930, in Port Huron, Michigan the son of the late Clifford and Marion (Lambert) Jackson, Sr. Delford was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, and Air Force, he served 2 years in the Army before transferring to the Air Force where he served more than 43 years combined as an enlisted and civilian employee, retiring from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 1989. Delford served as the President of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Wilmington Chapter. Delford was a man of faith and had a love of God, he was a member of the Lumberton United Methodist Church, and Lay Leader at the Methodist Conference at Lakeside, Ohio. He was a longtime resident of the Lumberton area. As a young man, Delford was a Golden Gloves Boxer, he loved to arm wrestle and was a Master of Yo-Yo. Delford loved the outdoors, especially the water. He was a member of the Chapter 23 HRRVC Holiday Rambler Recreational Club attending various national rallies across the U.S., he loved camping, and was an avid swimmer. He was a Coca-Cola man, on the day of his induction into service, he drank 24 Cokes and ate 24 Coney Dogs. He and his wife were members of the Sr. Citizens Centers in Port William and Wilmington. Delford is survived by his wife, Zenaida (De Villa) Jackson; children, Daniel Edward Jackson of Wilmington, Delinda (Alan) Eakins of Kettering, and Darcie (Jeff) Seedes of Beavercreek; grandchildren, Matthew (Hailey) Anderson of Bellbrook, Christopher Johnston of Dayton, Nicholas Johnston of Waynesville, Patrick (Heather) Johnston of Jamestown, Kryz Ariztone, Andhee Kathryz, and Atreya Roszen; great grandchildren, Noah Johnston, Josie Anderson, and Autumn Anderson; step-daughter Krizzia Braun of LaFayette, Ohio; step-son Renze Raniel Braun of the Philippines; and several nieces and nephews. Delford is preceded in death by his mother Marion E. (Lambert) Matthews; father Clifford Jackson, Sr.; his first wife Ruby; and three siblings, Clifford E. Jackson, Jr., Raleigh E. Jackson, and Caroline E. Burley. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Pastor Rich Boll of the Wilmington Church of God will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William. Visitation will be held Friday December 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
