Edith VanHoose, age 96, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday morning, July 10, 2021 at her home. She was born August 5, 1924 in River, Kentucky, the daughter of the late William and Gypsy (Murray) Wallen. Edith was a member of the River United Baptist Church in Kentucky, she was a devoted Christian and had served the Ohio Primitive Baptist Churches. She loved to make quilts for her grandkids. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family very much. She will be missed. Edith is survived by one daughter, Connie Nelson; six sons, Danny (Sharon) VanHoose, Allen (Sherry) VanHoose, Roger (Penny) VanHoose, Bill VanHoose, David (Pam) VanHoose, and Sam (Vicki) VanHoose; sister Betty Stapleton; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Claude VanHoose, to whom she married January 14, 1946, twelve children were born to this union. She was also preceded by five children, Lanceford Darrell VanHoose, Denvil Keith VanHoose, Gypsie Francis VanHoose, Wanda Lou VanHoose, and Brenda Kaye VanHoose; one grandchild, William Joshua VanHoose; and 14 siblings. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church, 160 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. Funeral Services and Burial will take place in River, Kentucky, Saturday, July 17, 2021. Services there will be handled by Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville, Kentucky.
