Obituary

Edward Timothy “Tim” O’Neill, age 75, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home.  Tim was born December 10, 1945 in Rochester, Michigan, the son of the late Edward Patrick O’Neill and Helen Virginia (Eaton) O’Neill Salasky.    Tim was a Veteran of the Unites States Army, upon his discharge he then served in the Ohio National Guard for 31 years.  He was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and a 23-year member of Wilmington American Legion Post #49.  He was a 51-year member of Golden Gate Lodge #245, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Free and Accepted Masons; and a member of the Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite.  Tim had been a part-time Deputy with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and a Fire Fighter with the Wilmington Fire Department for many years.   Tim was a model train enthusiast, and collector, he was a founding member of the Central and Southwestern Model Railroad Club in Wilmington, and the Cincinnati Railroad Club.  His professional life revolved around funeral service.  He was a 1968 Graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and became licensed as a funeral director and embalmer in both Pennsylvania and Ohio in 1969, he later became licensed in Kentucky also.  Tim has been associated with, and has assisted many funeral homes, with both embalming and funeral directing.  He was the consummate professional in funeral service.  He was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, where he was active with the Scholastic Assistance Committee, and the Convention Committee.  He was also a member of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association.  Tim left the day-to-day life as a funeral director and became an Account Executive with Homesteaders Life Company, and for the last 10 years he was representing Cincinnati Equitable Life as an Account Executive.  Tim was a true man that never knew a stranger.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife, and family, particularly enjoying anything Disney Cruise Lines.  Tim is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Fink) O’Neill, to whom he married February 2, 1971 in Dayton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason E. and Janette O’Neill and their children, Madison, Natalie, Elizabeth, and Matthew of Wilmington, and Jeremy W. and Shelly O’Neill and their children, Cassidy, Nolan, Conan, and Reilly of Mason; many friends; and many colleagues in funeral service.  Tim is preceded in death by his parents.  Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.  Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard immediately following services at the funeral home.  Burial will take place privately at the convenience of the family in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.  Visitation will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Masonic Services and Scottish Rite Ring services will be held Monday evening at 7:15 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, 2501 North Star Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
