Erwin “Dale” Scarberry, age 71, of Martinsville, passed away at his home in Martinsville. He was born July 27, 1954, in Logan, West Virginia, the son of the late Olta Lewis and Dortha (Welch) Scarberry. Dale was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. He had retired from the Ohio State Patrol working most of his time at the scales on Interstate 71. He loved to play pool with his friends, cruise in his Mustang, and tell stories about his younger days, and dearly loved his time with family. Dale is survived by his children, Lonnie Scarberry, Amy (Chuck) Moses, and Jody (Michael) Jones; his grandchildren, Emily Purdin, Britney Purdin, Landon Jones and Ethan Jones; his siblings, Gary Scarberry and Robbin (Judy) Scarberry; his stepfather, George Young; his two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his wife Linda Scarberry; and his siblings, Jerry Scarberry, James Scarberry, and Susan Scarberry. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mowrystown Cemetery in Highland County. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
