Eustace John Stapler, Jr., 77, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away at Ohio Living Quaker Heights of Waynesville, February 24, 2023. Eustace was born July 20,1945 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Eustace John and Thelma (Wilson) Stapler. His life revolved around the aeronautics field, having served in the United States Air force, working on fighter jets during the Vietnam era to being employed at the Wilmington Airpark most of his career while also volunteering at the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum.
Eustace was a member of Saint Columbkille Catholic Church, the Clinton County Democratic Party, and served on the boards of the United Way and Wee Welcome Child Care Center. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels through Community Action and coached for several years for teams his son, EJ, played on. Eustace loved model trains and his dogs, Apache and Quapaw. Above all, he loved his family very much. His son EJ and granddaughter Aubrey were his pride and joy.
Left to share his memory are his wife Judy (Hill) Stapler; his son Eustace John III, "EJ” (Erica) Stapler of Sterling, Virginia; his granddaughter Aubrey; siblings, Barbara Ann (Robert Jr.) Maloit of Julian, Pennsylvania and Michael (Nadine) Stapler of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Eustace is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
Keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Following visitation at 5:00 p.m., Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #49 of Wilmington with a Memorial Service immediately thereafter. Father Bernard J. Weldisofer will officiate. Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Sabina Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington is assisting the family.
