Francis Vincent “Frank” Kanyuck, Sr., age 80, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Copper Knoll Health and Rehabilitation Center in Washington C.H., with his family by his side, after an eight-month battle with brain cancer. Frank was born March 11, 1946, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Stephen and Stella A. (Nadwodny) Kanyuck. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. Frank was a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church where he had served as Greeter and Usher for 47 years, Eucharistic Minister, and Eucharistic Minister for the sick and shut-ins, and Collection Counter for more than 30 years. He was a graduate of Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and went on to graduate from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He had worked at Pratt and Whitney aerospace manufacturing in Connecticut, Midwest Aircraft Products in Lorain, Ohio, then Airborne Express in Wilmington from where he retired from. Upon retirement Frank could be found on many of the local golf courses enjoying a round of golf with friends. He was a member of the Wilmington Lion’s Club, and very involved in Scouting, being very proud of his two sons, Frank, Jr. and Chris, and grandson Alexander achieving the honor of Eagle Scout. Frank was a special person with a smile that everyone loved. To his family, he was the best husband, father, and grandfather ever. Frank is survived by the love of his life, Bonny Louise (Jozsa) Kanyuck, to whom he married July 18, 1970, in Chardon, Ohio; sons, Francis “Frank” (Tammy) Kanyuck, Jr., of Kenwood, and Chris (Lydia) Kanyuck, of St. Cloud, Florida; grandchildren, Brooke Kanyuck of Kenwood, Alexander Kanyuck of Kenwood, Elizabeth Kanyuck of St. Cloud, James Kanyuck of St. Cloud, Mackenzie (Jared) Dingey of Leesburg, Ohio, and Megan (John) McDuffee of Plain City, Ohio; great grandchildren, Iris Dingey, Jameson Dingey, Norah Dingey, Logan McDuffee, with granddaughter Brooke expecting Frank’s 5th great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by one sister, Sally Kanyuck; brother Stephen Kanyuck, Jr.; and sister-in-law Judy Conn. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Father Michael Holloran will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati. Visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.
