Frederick Haught Obituary

Frederick Edward Haught, age 89, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Saturday October 12, 2024. He was born, April 21, 1935 in Gratiot, Ohio, near Zanesville, the son of the late Harold Frederick and Lillian (Cumberlidge) Haught.

Mr. Haught moved to Wilmington in 1955 where he worked in various engineering and management positions with Cincinnati Milacron. After some years of working through the ranks, he was recognized by senior management at the company for his intelligence and hard working demeanor and was given some of the most challenging and secret special projects for the company at a pivotal point the company’s emergence into plastics. Mr. Haught was the project leader that managed the firms design and manufacturer of large-scale machine that made plastic extrusion products.

In 1970 left Cincinnati Milacron and joined the Bailey Murphy real estate company in Wilmington where he excelled as a top performing real estate salesperson. He earned a reputation for making a sale for every real estate listing that he undertook. After just a few years he earned his real estate brokerage license and ventured out to start his own business.

He continued to be successful in real estate sales but also began to venture into his own real estate investment. For over 10 years he heavily invested in distressed real estate properties in Wilmington Ohio and the surrounding communities within Clinton County ultimately amassing a sizable portfolio of houses, apartment buildings, and raw land in the area.

In his spare time Mr. Haught loved to garden, build a orchard, and plant hundreds of native and exotic trees on his homestead in the countryside just outside of Wilmington. To this day the grounds of the land looks like a nursery or English Garden.

Horses could aways be found on the Haught family property outside of Wilmington and after many years of encouraging his children to learn to ride and train horses in 4-H, later in life at the age of 50, Mr. Haught took riding lessons and became a skilled equestrian himself. For the rest of his life the key pastime passion was breeding, training and just being around his horses. He acquired and refined the bloodlines of Quarter horses, Saddle bred horses, Tennessee Walking horses and later, Paso Fino horses. We imagine even now Mr. Haught is out riding his horse Bo Jangles that passed away also a couple of years ago on some heavenly trail.

Mr. Haught was known by friends, neighbors and family as a devoted and loving husband to his wife Patricia, a responsible and providing father, and often a generous man to those needing a second chance in life.

Mr. Haught is survived by his wife, Patricia Sue Haught residing in Wilmington his eldest son, Frederick Edward Haught residing in El Lago, Texas, his son Gregory Alan Haught residing in El Lago, Texas and his daughter Candace Haught residing in Chicago Illinois.
