Gary Kenneth Williams, age 82, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, in the Clinton Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was born May 24, 1944, in Kentucky, the son of the late Raleigh and Mary (Hamilton) Williams. Gary, along with his wife Reba, who precedes him, worked side by side for more than 50 combined years for the Wilmington City Schools. He was a friend to all, whether it be human or animal. His neighbors dearly loved him, and the neighborhood cats, squirrels, and birds were kept well fed by Gary. He enjoyed sitting quietly watching the neighbors’ chickens mill about, walking the bike trail, and spending time at Planet Fitness. He was a lover of nature, and kept his lawn immaculate. Gary is survived by his daughters Mary Ellen, and Waunnetta Kay “Nita”; grandchildren, Amber Irene, Airyn, Michael, and Jacob; great-granddaughter Kaytlyn Nicole; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Ralph White; and his cat Abbey. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Reba K. (White) Wiliams on September 8, 2023; sister Garnetta Pollock; and brother Billy Ray Williams. A private service will be held at a later date. Brown Funeral Home, is assisting the family.
