Gerald "Jerry" LeForge Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" LeForge, passed on January 23, 2024, at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Surrounded by his loving family and two best friends, John Arvai and Paul Butler.  Jerry leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandpa and a loyal friend. 

 

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy LeForge, his son Kevin LeForge (Brandi), and his grandchildren, Hillary and Landen LeForge. He is also survived by his sister Mary Lener (Robert) of North Carolina and brother Larry LeForge. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son Jason. 

 

Jerry was born July 31, 1949, to Kathryn and Everrette LeForge of Wilmington. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Daugherty, in 1968. In service to his Country, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving honorably from 1968 to 1972 aboard the USS Kearsatge and USS Enterprise. Jerry was a proud Vietnam Veteran, deeply devoted to his country. 

 

Jerry's greatest joy in life came from his two sons, Jason and Kevin LeForge. He retired from Lebanon Correctional Institution in 2005, having dedicated many years of service. However, his true pride and joy came in 2005 and 2006 with the arrival of his grandchildren, Hillary and Landen. He loved them fiercely and cherished every moment spent with them. 

 

Music was a passion that resonated throughout Jerry's life. From 1980 to 2000, he DJ'd various events on the side, sharing his love for all genres. He enjoyed going to the Indy 500 with friends through the years and watching the Bengals. Cooking, gardening, boating, and reading were among his other hobbies. 

 

Jerry continued to serve his country in a unique capacity through his involvement with the Wilmington Veterans Post 49, American Legion. He served as Commander from 2008 to 2010 as well Commander of the 4th District 2012-2013 and as Asst. Sgt. at Arms for the Department of Ohio, American Legion. Jerry was also a Lifetime Member of THE VFW Post 6710. 

 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28th, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion, Post 49.  140 E Locust St. Wilmington. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m., where friends and family can gather to honor and remember Jerry's remarkable life.
