Hilary Williams Levandofsky Obituary

Hilary Grace Williams Levandofsky, 43, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away in her home on June 22nd, 2022. She was a 2001 graduate of Wilmington College, and lived most of her life in Clinton County. Hilary was many things: a mother, teacher, sister, daughter, friend. But just like anyone, the details are what made her special.
Due to a severe underbite, she could touch her tongue to her nose. She was a better baker than chef. She could name a Brady Bunch episode within the first 15 seconds (see also: classic Scooby Doo). She wore space buns before they were cool, and made them cool again. She liked berry lipstick.
Her love language was gift giving. She was always finding people thoughtful little presents she picked up thrifting or at yard sales. She knew how to bargain. She loved office supplies, and had researched opinions on pens.
Hilary loved board and card games. She helped invent Deck Poker and Mother Father Baby Sister Brother. By the time she was 5, she could play Monopoly and didn’t need help counting money. When having new people over (and she was always having new people over), one of her first questions would be: do you know how to roll dice? As long as you could do that, you could count on having a good time with Hilary.
She was ridiculously smart, especially at math and logic. For fun, she one time mathematically proved how to win the game Mastermind in 4 moves. She knew why 506 is a cool number but 507 isn’t. She was ridiculously excited when her daughter Charlie was born on 8/9/17 since 8+9 = 17.
She hated maple syrup, loved Dave Matthews Band, was constantly sweating, and kept fidget toys in her purse. She was and will remain one of the funniest people I know. She was my best friend for years until she wasn’t.
I guess that’s as good of a segue as any to mention she struggled with drugs for most of her adult life. A genetic disposition to addiction plus a botched back surgery and bout of PTSD created a perfect storm of, well, suck. It is heartbreaking to watch someone you love slowly die, and you know there is nothing you can do about it. You throw love at it, time at it, money at it, anger and despair at it, until you finally have nothing left to throw.
When someone dies who has an addiction, it seems like that’s the end of the story…like nothing else the user did or liked or thought or felt matters. He was an alcoholic. She smoked crack. One factor out of a lifetime of actions and experiences seems to be the defining one.
I refuse to let that happen to Hilary. My sister was more than her addiction – she was a loving mother, kind and generous friend, cherished daughter, and the best sister I could ever ask for. She made people laugh, she made people think, and she made the world a better place just by being in it. I’ve missed her, and I will miss her.
Hilary is survived by her mother, Carolyn (Sherry) Williams; her sons Jack and Dave Levandofsky; daughters Charlotte (Charli) Wallace and Stella Levandofsky; sister Cindi Williams and brother-in-law Trevor Thrasher; nieces Miranda Thrasher and Chloe Williams; Jeremy Wallace; and many cherished friends and family. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry E. Williams. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Wilmington, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please spend time with someone you love…maybe even play a board game with them.
