James D. "Jim" Armstrong, age 86, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday April 13, 2025, at The Laurels of Blanchester. He was born December 1, 1938, in Montgomery County, the son of the late Fred E. and Kathryn (Boyden) Armstrong. Jim was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and the Ohio Air National Guard. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Jim was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Wilmington. His life centered around family, farming, tractors and tractor pulls. He had retired after 30 plus years as a farm machinery salesman and was passionate about 4-H, having been involved as a young man and later following his family through their time in the program. Jim is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, L. Dianne Armstrong (Hoop), to whom he married October 25, 1959; his children, Michelle (Perry) Milner, Melissa (Jay) Molitor, David (Emily) Armstrong, all of Wilmington and Deloris Moon of Sabina; grandchildren, Scott Milner, Kyle (Courtney) Molitor, Sam (Amber) Milner, MaKayla (Jake) Fransen, Katelyn (Jake) Roehm, Sarah (Kaeleb) Bean, Lane Armstrong and Wyatt Armstrong; five great-grandchildren with another on the way; a sister, Shirley (Robert) Smith of Beavercreek; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by siblings, Kenneth Armstrong, Joanne Gerlaugh and an infant sister; and his in-laws, Leo and Annalee Hoop. All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family with burial at Clinton County Memory Gardens. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #49 Honor Guard of Wilmington.
