James L. "Jimmy” Haywood, age 72, of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at his home. He was born July 23, 1949, in Clinton County, Ohio the son of the late Kenneth L. and Althea (Lunsford) Haywood. Jimmy was a Veteran of the United States Army, and had served in the Army Reserves. Upon returning from his enlisted time, he began painting with Charlie Lewis. Jimmy has painted many homes in and around the Wilmington area. In addition to enjoying painting, Jimmy loved to fish. He had many friends and family who will miss him. Jimmy is survived by his son Jamie Haywood of Bellefontaine, Ohio; two grandchildren; sisters, Cindy Kiphart of Wilmington, Debbie Shinn of Florida, and Sonya DeBoard of Xenia; nieces and nephews, Jay (Denise) McClanahan, Wayne (Connie Estep) McClanahan, Missy (Rod) Campbell, Tonya (Darren) Williams, Amy (Vincent Price) Kiphart, Brent Kiphart, Kenny Lane, Kirby Lane, Keith Lane, Angel Bodiford, Kelly Knotts, Jeri Nelson, Terry Gaines, and Kerri Kelleher; several great nieces; and many friends, including Dennis Morton. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by one sister, Leah Bryan; and friend Bob Faul. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 17 at 2:00 P.M. at Sabina Cemetery.
