Janet Ray (Shelton) Simpson

Janet Ray Simpson, age 61, known by many as “Momma Janet”, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 11, 2023, at   her home with her family by her side.  She was born May 11, 1962, in Wilmington, Ohio the daughter of Raymond R. and Dorothy J. (Huston) Shelton.  Janet loved being outdoors.  She loved weeding, and picking flowers.  More than anything, Janet loved her family, she was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt.  Janet is survived by her mother, Dorothy Shelton, of Wilmington; sisters, Linda (Kevin) Strider of Washington C.H., Ellen Estep of Wilmington, and Teri (Rodney Wisecup) Stanforth of Wilmington; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Julie) Strider of Kentucky, Joshua (Amber) Strider of Washington C.H., Kathy (Johnny) Estep of Hillsboro, and Rusty (Jody) Estep of Wilmington; 10 great nieces and nephews; her bonus son Nicholas Wallace of Martinsville; her estranged husband and father of her boys, Robert Simpson; and many friends.  Janet is preceded in death by her father Raymond R. Shelton; sons Troy Robert Simpson and Robert Lee Simpson; grandmother Mabel Potter; and brother-in-law, Carl Estep.  Graveside services in Sabina Cemetery will be announced.  The family will observe a private visitation.  Anyone who would like to donate to assist the family during this difficult time may do so at www.arehart-brown.com.  On-line condolences can be left on our website, or our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
