Jeanne Ann (States) Underwood

Jeanne Ann Underwood went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 66 years. Born in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma, on December 29, 1954. Predeceased by her father, L. Wayne States and her mother, Juanita E. States. Survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Clint Underwood, her son Darrell (Melissa) Underwood, her daughter Kimberly (Troy) Westenbarger, and her grandchildren: Cody, Kelcee, Cheyanna, and Cole. Also survived by her siblings Larry (Eva) States, and Judy Jackson. Finally, Jeanne is survived by a host of friends who have been touched by her generosity and encouraged by her enduring faith.

Jeanne graduated from Penn View Christian Academy in 1972. Besides being a caring and loving mother, Jeanne served in a number of career fields: starting out in the printing industry, she moved on to working as an administrative assistant in the Phelps County Prosecutor’s Office.

As a devout Christian, Jeanne was a faithful church attender. Daily personal time with God was very important to her as well.

Jeanne had a number of skills she used to bless the lives of others. A beautiful singer, Jeanne participated on a praise team. Also, Jeanne was very artistic: painter, crafter, decorator. She used her creativity to brighten her family’s home or brighten someone’s day.

Jeanne was unselfish and self-sacrificing in giving her time and energy to others. While anyone who walked in her life felt like a loved one, her family was most important to her, and she regularly supported them in prayer and words of encouragement and wisdom. She will be greatly missed, and we look forward to seeing her inside the Eastern Gate.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Wilmington Church of the Nazarene, 2193 Wayne Road, Wilmington, OH.

Funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 1 PM at Wilmington Church of the Nazarene, 2193 Wayne Road, Wilmington, OH. Graveside service to follow. Sugar Grove Cemetery, 163 West Truesdell Street, Wilmington, OH.
