Jeannie C. Christian

Jeannie G. Christian, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on June 17, 2026. She was born March 12, 1952, daughter of the late Ollie and Iva Jeanne Kingsolver Elswick and the oldest of seven siblings. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by infant brother Randall.  She is survived by her two daughters Amanda (Brian) Adams and Brandi (Brandon) Hoggatt of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Brooklynn Hoggatt, Paige Adams, Isaac Adams, Briley Hoggatt, Breeze Hoggatt, Asher Adams, and Posie Adams; long time sweetheart Richard Naish; six siblings, Nora (Randy) Chambers, Sharon (Guy) Osborne, Danny (Teenie) Elswick, Tammy (Jim) Carpenter, and Sandi Elswick; two step sons, Bill Christian and John (Lily) Christian; the Elswick, Christian, and Naish families.  Jeannie graduated from Wilmington High School in 1970 where she played in the marching band and excelled in school. Jeannie was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ and loved sharing the love of Jesus with anyone who would listen. She was a very gifted gardener and enjoyed storing up her homegrown food. Jeannie worked for the City of Wilmington Police Department for many years before retiring and becoming a full time Granny and gardener.  Jeannie spent 39 wonderful and faithful years of companionship with Richard Naish. He was a kind, soft-spoken, and steadfast presence in her life up to her last minute. They loved going to fairs and festivals together. He was always making her laugh and he was an amazing source of comfort and strength to her and her children. His tremendous impact on all of them cannot be understated.  Jeannie raised her two children and sacrificed many things to do it so well. She was an amazing and loving mother who always put her children first. She stepped up to be their Sunday School teacher in church. She was their Girl Scout Leader for many years and was recognized for her leadership to the Girl Scout Organization.  Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She absolutely adored all of them and was a doting and proud “Granny”. As she grew older, her great love was spending time with her grandchildren as they were her pride and joy. She could often be seen playing games with her grandkids on the floor, playing piano with her musically talented grandkids, or going on shopping outings where they stopped for ice cream or lunch. They will forever hold their sweet Granny in their hearts.  Despite living in different cities and states, Jeannie and her siblings were all very close and she cherished every moment she got with them. Every year on black Friday, they looked forward to getting together, always waking up before the sun came up, to spend the whole day shopping together. It was always looked back upon as a cherished memory. She loved her siblings and they were with her and by her side up to the very end.  Jeannie also had two stepsons, Bill and John Christian who came into her life when they were only ages 4 and 3. She loved and treated the boys as her own children. She made sure their time together was filled with joy and laughter, whether playing in the leaves, fishing on the Elswick farm or going to a park. Jeannie came from a big family and had numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly. She went to great lengths to remember birthdays and would always try to send cards on birthdays and other holidays.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 7 at 12:00pm with visitation 10:00am-12:00pm at Brown Funeral Home in Wilmington Ohio.
