Joan Catheline Maher

October 23rd, 1970- December 3rd, 2025

Joan “Kathi” Maher, aged 55 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Kathi’s life was defined by her love and pride for her children and grandchildren. Kathi was a proud whole organ transplant recipient and a fierce advocate for organ donation.

Kathi is survived by her three children Jonathan (Stephanie) Maher, Mary (Travis) Hammerling, and Jordan (Carlos) Ramirez. Her legacy lives through her grandchildren Zayne, Bodey, Maverick, Eden, Sparrow, Garrett, Natalie, and Amelia. She is also survived by her two devoted sisters, Heather (Matt) Miller and Robin (Britt) Williams and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was loved especially by her best friend and mother-in-law, Bonnie Mathews and friend and former husband, Andy Maher. She was the loving granddaughter to Joan Jones and loved by her aunt, uncle, and cousins.

Kathi was greeted in death by her mother, Jo Nell Angel, sister Kelli Cooper, grandfather Carl Jones, Brothers-in-law Tracy Cooper and Micheal Miller and several beloved pets. 

Her care was kindly provided by Heartland Hospice. 

A private Celebration of life will be held at a later date. In her memory, and in lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Donate Life America.
