Joanne Arlene (Simonsen) Gruber, age 91, of New Vienna, currently residing in Lebanon, OH passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love that touched all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, treasured friend, and a faithful servant of God. Joanne is survived by her loving children, Carolin Cassio (Irv), Ben Gruber (Desirée), Regina Morgan (Doug), and Hazel Bloomfield (Jeff); her loving companion, John Corwin; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Trey Gruber. Joanne’s life was marked by her warm and giving spirit. She was thoughtful and compassionate, always thinking of others and extending her love in countless quiet ways. Whether she was sending a card, offering a listening ear, or showing up when someone needed her most, Joanne embodied grace and selflessness. One of her greatest joys in life was supporting her children and grandchildren in all their activities. She was their biggest cheerleader, celebrating every milestone and accomplishment with pride and enthusiasm. She also loved the simple joys of life—playing cards with friends and family, traveling to new places, attending United Methodist Women and Eastern Star meetings (where she was a 50-year member), and participating actively in her church community. Her faith was a guiding light, and she found joy in playing in the hand bell choir and attending Sunday services. Her beloved companion, John Corwin, perhaps said it best: “The world would be a better place if there were more ‘Joannes’ in it.” Those who knew her would agree. Joanne’s presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. On Sunday, June 29, 2025, a visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and a memorial service following at Faith in Christ Church located at 11576 State Route 28, New Vienna, OH 45159.
