Joel Dwayne Dawson, age 63, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in Franklin, Ohio. He was born July 20, 1961, in Chillicothe, Ohio the son of the late Richard and Shirley Ann (Camp) Dawson, Sr. He loved playing golf, being outdoors, waterskiing, and snow sports. Joel was a master at telling jokes and making people laugh. He enjoyed music, especially the Rolling Stones. Above all, he loved his family dearly. Joel is survived by his brothers, Richard Dale Dawson of Franklin, Roy Owen Dawson of Middletown, and Robert Dawson of Middletown; sisters, Melody Dawson Robbins of Middletown, and Tammy “Nadine” Dawson Wilson of Middletown; his ex-wife and close friend Teresa Dawson of Franklin; several nieces and nephews; aunt Audrey Dawson of Chicago, aunt Vicky of Wilmington, aunt Sue of Middletown; cousin Greg Kinney of Chicago; special nephews Jacob Adams, and Chris Dawson; special nieces, Tammy (Aaron) Murphy of Middletown, and Lori Dawson of Middletown; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends. In addition to his parents, Joel is preceded in death by a nephew, Shane Anderson, and his grandparents. Services will be held 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place later, privately at the convenience of the family.
