John Henry Sewell, age 82, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Ohio Living Cape May. John was born April 7, 1941, in Wilmington, Ohio, the son of the late Charles Aaron and Elinor (Carson) Sewell. He absolutely loved being on the family farm in Clarksville. John was mechanically gifted and could work on just about anything. While tending to the farm he also enjoyed making maple syrup. He had retired after many years at Sewell Motor Express, and he had worked at the Wilmington News Journal for a short time. John grew up in the Ogden area where he developed a passion for drag racing which led to traveling to many places and developing many friendships throughout the years. He was a proud graduate and basketball player at Adams High School. Above all, John loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Poncoose". He is survived by his two sons, John Sewell II of Port William and Greg (Bukki) Sewell of Columbus; grandchildren, Katy Sewell, Joseph Sewell, Anthony Sewell, Logan (Danielle) Crady and Emily Crady; brothers, Earl Dean Sewell and Jerry (Pat) Sewell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Sewell Crady; brothers, Aaron Joe and Fred Sewell; and an uncle, Joseph Carson.
