John Robert Williams

John Robert Williams, age 92, of New Vienna, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. He was born on November 7, 1933, in Ashland, Ohio, to Robert and Marjorie Williams.  John married the love of his life, Earla Stimpert, on September 9, 1960. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage and built a beautiful family.  He is survived by his loving wife, Earla; his sons, Robert (Beverly) Williams of Kannapolis, North Carolina, and David (Amy) Williams of New Vienna; and his grandchildren, Lane (Brittany) Williams, Marissa Williams, Amanda Williams, Blake Williams, Jason Overcash, and Jeremy Overcash. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Daxtyn Williams, Ellie Robinson, Chloe Overcash, Callie Overcash, Riley Overcash, and Brody Overcash.  John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 and was a Korean War Veteran. He loved his country dearly and often said, “It is the best country in the world.”  An avid outdoorsman, John loved hunting and fishing. He also had a special love for his Magnetic Red 2004 Corvette, which brought him great joy and was something he was very proud of. Some of his greatest joys came from watching his grandchildren grow up and supporting them in their many activities and sporting events. He was a member of the New Vienna Church of Christ and the Clinton County Sportsman Club. He also enjoyed giving back to his community and chaperoned the New Vienna Elementary Camp Joy trip several times.  John was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed telling an occasional joke. His friendly nature, quick wit, love of family, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  In addition to his parents, Robert and Marjorie Williams, John was preceded in death by his brother, Dick Williams.  Special music at the funeral service will be provided by Beverly Williams, Philip Stimpert, and Elisabeth Stimpert.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home in Wilmington, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following, officiated by Brad Clouse.  Burial with military honors will follow at New Vienna IOOF Cemetery on Nordyke Road in New Vienna, Ohio.  Following the graveside service, the family invites everyone to join them for a luncheon at the New Vienna Church of Christ, located at 148 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio.  John will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his devotion to his country, his love of the outdoors, and his ability to make everyone around him feel like a friend.
