Karen Woods Obituary

Karen Sue (LeVan) Woods, formerly of Clarksville, Ohio, went peacefully into the presence of Jesus on January 7, 2026.  She was born February 26, 1947, in Bloom Center, Ohio, the daughter of the late Nathan and Treva (Spillers) LeVan.  Karen had a tender, loving, and caring heart for her family and friends.  She had a love and pride for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She loved the outdoors, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, but above all she valued and loved the time she spent with her family and friends.  She and her husband Fred enjoyed being involved in the booster club at Clinton Massie while their children were involved in school.  They also attended many practices, games, activities, and performances.  Karen was also an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, involved in her son Mark’s activities from Cub Scout to Eagle Scout.  She even earned Order of Arrow.  Karen was active in the many churches she attended in all the places she lived, and she loved the Lord.  She helped with many ladies’ activities and other church functions, including one of her favorites, the yearly garage sale to raise funds for church work.  She enjoyed her time with and was a former member of Order of Eastern Star, Masons Lady Commandry, and the Lions Club.   Karen married her sweetheart Fred Woods in 1964.  They were married for 35 years.  She spent time on Naval Bases and traveling before settling back in Ohio for many years.  Later they moved to the Rochester, New York area where Fred took a job.  Eventually moving back to Ohio.    Karen’s family awaiting her in her new Heavenly home are her husband Fred Woods, Jr., her brother George LeVan, and her sister Jocile Monteith.  She is survived by her children, Kim (Anthony) Smith of Blanchester, Ohio, Sue (Steve) Barr of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mark Woods of Bethel, Ohio; her legacy continues with her grandchildren, Kristin Miller, Kelcie (John) Sholly, Matt Woods, Dylon (DJ) Jewett, Anne Marie (Daniel) Wilson, Zack (Bella) Woods, and William Woods; as well as her great grandchildren, Maeve Wilson, Owen Miller, and Rowan Wilson; sisters Linda Gillen and Julie (Chris) Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1920 St Rt 22 West, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.  Interment will take place Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Mansfield Memorial Park in Mansfield, Ohio.  The family asks that memorial donations in Karen’s memory be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington, is assisting the family.  To leave an on-line condolence, please visit www.arehart-brown.com, or see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
