Marilyn J. Baker, 76, of Wilmington, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville, Ohio, following a long battle with ovarian cancer. Born to Harold and Virginia Cooper on October 24, 1947, Marilyn Cooper graduated from Wilmington High School in 1965. She completed training at Columbus Technical Institute in 1966 and worked as an inhouse travel agent for NCR in Dayton. She met and married Donald Baker in Dayton, Ohio, in 1969. The couple owned and refurbished properties in Dayton, and lived in Greenfield and Cambridge, Ohio, before retiring to Florida. Marilyn was active in Women’s Aglow. She enjoyed singing in her church choir, and participating in contemporary worship. She founded and operated a Tax Service in Englewood, Florida. She took up tennis in retirement. She and her husband bred miniature poodles and loved their Yorkshire terriers. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Virginia Cooper; husband Donald Baker; and sister Barbara Cooper. She is survived by her brother Gary (Nancy) Cooper; niece Cheryl Cooper-Darragh (Philip Darragh); nephew Douglas (Melinda) Cooper; niece Amy (Bill) Fuerst; three great nieces; one great nephew; one great grand niece; and three great grand nephews. The family will hold a memorial service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home, 237 W. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
