Michael Edward Brown, of Clarksville, Ohio, passed away on June 14, 2025, surrounded by love and family. He was 67 years old.
Born in Cincinnati on September 2, 1957, to Wiley and Carolyn Brown, Michael lived a life shaped by simplicity, stubborn independence, and a sharp sense of humor. He served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1977 as a Mess Management Specialist, earning an honorable discharge.
After returning home, Michael went to work for his grandfather as a painter in 1981. From that point forward, he always ran his own business—never to grow it endlessly, but to use it as a means to an end. Work was something to be done when needed, not something to chase for its own sake.
Michael was a true outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who passed on his deep knowledge of primitive living to his children and grandchildren. His greatest loves were the hawk and knife, the traditional longbow, and the muzzleloader—tools that weren’t just hobbies, but a way of life he taught by example. He was a consummate trader to his core—always working a deal, making a swap, or turning one thing into another, usually with a story and a grin.
He is survived by his life partner, Kimberly L. Hillard; his children: Patrick Hillard, Thera Brown, Elijah Brown; his mother, Carolyn Brown; his siblings: Tomas Brown, Joyce Carter, Susan Brown, and numerous grandchildren who carry forward his spirit, lessons, and grit.
A private family service will be held. If you’d like to honor Dad, go outside, shoot a bow, clean your muzzleloader, throw a hawk, or go out and make a good trade—just think of him while youre doing it.
