Nancy J. Curran passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025, peacefully at her home in Wilmington. She was the only child of Howard and Letha (Young) Gebhart. Nancy attended Wilmington City Schools graduating in 1954. She went on to Wilmington College where she was affiliated with the Delta Omega Theta Sorority, graduating in 1957. At Wilmington College she met and married Rich Curran. They celebrated 64 years of marriage until his death in 2021. Nancy started her teaching career at Smith Place in Wilmington. She moved on to teach at the Little Miami and East Clinton School systems. She retired after 33 years of teaching. On retirement, she pursued a new career at National Bank and Trust where she worked for 17 years. Nancy and Rich enjoyed traveling with friends to Ireland, England, and Wales. They enjoyed Cincinnati Bengal games and loved the yearly family trip to Hilton Head. Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly Ann and Doug Phillips; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Phillips, and Megan (Ryan) Heiss Witkemper; great grandchildren, Noah, Lincoln, and PJ Phillips, Adelynn and Christen Heiss, and Spencer Dove; and many friends and co-workers. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is preceded in death by her son Kyle David Curran. A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.
