Nyla Blanche Smith, age 7, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully, October 17, 2024 at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati. She was born March 24, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. A generous and loving young lady, Nyla was a beacon of strength, determination, and gentle innocence. She always carried an infectious smile regardless the tribulations she encountered in her short life and was an inspiration to many. Nyla enjoyed many things such as singing, dancing, playing outside, and attending school. She loved to make YouTube videos, rap like her uncle Jamin, and cook with her T dad. Nyla loved the color pink, making up song lyrics to keep her family laughing, and dearly loved making everyone feel special on their birthday. She leaves behind so many that loved her and that were in awe of her courageousness. Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Jamie Lee Pritchett of Wilmington; father, Erik Smith of Georgetown; bonus dad, Terry Stidham of Wilmington; siblings, Branson and Adrenne Smith of Wilmington; maternal grandparents, Jamie (Delilah) Pritchett of Wilmington and Carla Pritchett of Ripley; paternal grandmother, Lucy Smith of Georgetown; grandparents, Teddi (Tommy) Farris of Ripley and Terry (Laurie) Stidham of Oriental, North Carolina; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that she gained through her journey. Nyla is preceded in death by her brother, Tracy and sister, Amberlee; and her grandfather, James R Lathrop. Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Wilmington Church of God, 100 R Gordon Dr., Wilmington. Pastor Rich Boll will officiate. A special reading of Psalm 23 will be given by Nyla's grandfather, Jamie Pritchett. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the church.
