Penny Marie (Bender) Waits

Penny Marie Waits, age 61, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, November 14, 2021 with family by her side. She was born May 24, 1960 in Georgetown, Ohio the daughter of the late Eugene and Elizabeth Eunice (Plank) Grisham. Penny was an animal lover, especially exotic birds. She, along with her family, owned and operated Penny’s Parrots. She also had a small cleaning business that she was proud of. Penny is survived by two daughters Jammie Hudson of Wilmington, Mindy S. (Alex) Johnson of Wilmington; grandsons Logan Hudson and Gabe Everman; and brothers David Grisham of Sardinia, and Stephen Bender of Mowrystown. In addition to her parents, Penny is preceded in death by her husband Gregory Lee Waits; and siblings, Michael Bender, Crystal Alexander, and Tony Bender. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
