Rebecca M. "Becky" (Brock) Smith

Rebecca M. “Becky” Smith, age 60, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Monday, February 21, 2022 at her home with her family by her side.  She was born December 31, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late William and Betty Jean (Galbraith) Brock.  The most important thing in Becky’s life was her family.  She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren, they were her reason for living.  She was a fixture at all sporting events where the kids and grandkids participated.  She also enjoyed crocheting and pottery.  Becky had worked for more than 23 years at Airborne Express, and in later years, she worked as an STNA in the local healthcare industry.  Becky was known by all who knew her as an all around, caring person, who would do anything for anyone.  She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, James E. Smith, Sr.; children, Jimmy (Lindsay) Smith, Jr. of Wilmington, Kimi (Travis) Mellinger 0f Wilmington, Tifaney (Nick) Sandlin of Wilmington, and Beth (Jimmy) Cramton of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Justice (Chris) Gunkel, Triston Thompson-Smith, Logan Smith, Landon Mellinger, Larkyn Mellinger, Lacie Sandlin, Alyssa Sandlin, Kaydence Cramton, Reese Cramton, McKynlei Cramton, and Travis Cramton; one great granddaughter “on-the-way”; step-father George Waller; siblings, Vickie Jackson of Blanchester, Bill (Loraine) Brock of Cincinnati, Terry (Marlene) Brock of Goshen, and Pam Green of Williamsburg;  several nieces and nephews; and many friends.  Becky is preceded in death by her father William Brock; mother Betty J. Waller; an infant brother; two brothers-in-law, Nelson Jackson and Eddie Green; and great-nephews Lane Heeg.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.   Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery on Gano Road, Wilmington.  Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  To leave an on-line condolence, please visit www.arehart-brown.com, or see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
