Richard Thomas Lupu, Jr, age 60, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at his home.  Richard “Rick” was born in the Naval Hospital at Portsmouth, Virginia, July 21, 1961 to Richard Thomas and Nancy (Seegert) Lupu, Sr.  Rick enlisted in the Army in 1980, and had been stationed several places, including Texas and Germany.  However, before he left for boot camp, he married Loretta Lynn Taylor on September 5, 1980 in Warren, Michigan.  They had three children, Richard, Timothy and Megan.  After his service in the Army, he came back to Michigan and obtained employment in apartment maintenance, which he worked at for the majority of his life.  His last job was working for Kroger’s in Wilmington.  He said he never thought he could work at a grocery store, but he really enjoyed working with the people and getting to know customers.  Among his hobbies and interests was bowling.  He had won several rings and awards for bowling perfect 300 games, and high scores.  Rick is survived by his three children, Richard (Melissa) Lupu, III, Timothy (Leslie) Lupu, and Megan (Travis) Burgess; mother Nancy Dishman; sisters, Wendy Meeks, Kimberly Sokolowski, and Lana (David) Verduce; and brothers, Richard Lee (Debbie) Lupu, Sr., Robert (Tracey) Lupu, and Tom (Theresa) Lupu.  Although divorced, Loretta Rawlins and Rick remained good friends.  Rick also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Aric Parker, Alexis Parker, Austin Lupu, Aiden and Axle Lupu, Madison and Dylan Lupu, Ethan, James, and Madalynn Egbert, and Nicholas and Rylee Lake; and nieces and nephews, Steven (Jessica) Lupu, Alexandria Plociniak, Crystal (Alan) Douglas, Jason Douglas, Tim (Samantha) Douglas, and Leon Sokolowski IV.  Rick is preceded in death by his father, Richard Lupu, Sr., step-mother Judy Hunt Lupu; sister Catherine Ann Lupu and Carolyn Douglas; and step-father Gerald Roger Dishman.  Richard lived with his son, Richard III and his family in Wilmington.  According to Rick’s wishes, cremation will take place, and all services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington, is assisting the family.
