Richard Lee Shelton

Richard Lee Shelton, age 82, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Miami Valley Hospital In Dayton.  He was born April 21, 1941, in Clinton County, the son of Glen and Reba Shelton.  Richard had retired after more than 30 years of service with the Irwin Augerbit Company in Wilmington, he was an avid sports fan, and was a big Cleveland Browns Fan, he also followed the Cincinnati Reds.  When he wasn’t watching sports, he enjoyed watching old westerns on T.V.  Richard is survived by two children, Jeff “Butch” (Lillian) Shelton of Wilmington and Valerie (Brent) Scott of Jamestown; grandchildren, Ashley (Josh) Bezold of Clarksville, Travis Willison of Xenia, Josh Wilson of Wilmington, and Phillip Willison of Xenia; several great grandchildren; and brother Stanley Shelton of Texas.  In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jennifer Willison; sisters, Shirley Huston and Dorothy Coonrod; and brothers Raymond, Donald, Leonard, and David Shelton.  Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday.  Burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery will take place privately at the convenience of the family.  To leave an on-line condolence please visit www.arehart-brown.com, or our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
