Ricky Lee Burkitt, age 66, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 7, 2022, with family by his side. He was born February 23, 1956, the son of Delmar and Marcella (Miller) Burkitt. Ricky lived by the motto, “It is what it is”. He was a 1974 Graduate of Clinton Massie High School, had worked at R + L Carriers for 23 years and was a former ABATE Member. Ricky enjoyed his “Wind Therapy” on his Harley, and loved spending time with family and friends, especially hanging out in the garage with his buddy Roger Boldman. He is survived by his wife loving Pam (Friend) Burkitt; mother Marcella Burkitt; siblings, April Hayslip, Brian “Todd” (Michelle) Burkitt, and Dawn (Roger) Boldman; brothers-in-law, Rob (Lisa) Friend, Ed Friend, and John (Missy) Friend; nieces and nephews, Bo (Jessica) Doyle, Shayne Williams, Austin Burkitt, Dylan Burkitt, Blake Burkitt, Jake (Laney) Boldman, Joby (Wendy) Fetters, Jason (Donette) Fetters, Cassie Gutt, Jason (Angel) Friend, Makayla Friend, Logan Friend, Brandon Powell, Amber (Matthew) Rear, and Crystal (Travis) Droessler; mother-in-law Wanda Wallingford Friend; special aunt Brenda (Paul) Browning; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Delmar Burkitt. Visitation will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Graveside services at Clarksville Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
