Russell W. Roever, age 77, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, in “The James” at the Ohio State Wexler Medical Center in Columbus. He was born September 2, 1946, in Queens, New York, the son of the late Carl and Helen (Salisbury) Roever. Russell attended the Rock City Church in Hillard, Ohio regularly, and enjoyed meeting and greeting everyone there. His family and friends new him as a lifelong “jokester”, he always tried to make those around him smile. Russel was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a very proud veteran, very patriotic, and very active supporting military holidays and events. Russell was a Lifetime Member of the Hillsboro V.F.W. Post #9094; had serviced as Vice President of the Association of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, which was also his unit while serving in Vietnam; he had been active in the Community Theatre in Hillsboro during the 1990’s and 2000’s; while in his private time, he enjoyed a little gambling, along with scratch-off tickets; more than anything, he loved his family and spending time with them. Russell is survived by three children, Lori (David) Swearingen, of Washington Court House, Michael (Lorie) Roever of Land-o-Lakes, Florida, and Clay (Callie Bookman) Roever of Delaware, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jess Hess, Javen Hess, Sean Roever, and Elise Roever; two great grandchildren, Jaden Hess and Sebastian Hess; and several friends, including his Veteran brothers and sisters. In addition to his parents, Russell is preceded in death by his wife, Lynda; and brothers Doug and Don. All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
