Sheila Dianne Marine (Cook), age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026. She was born March 5, 1948, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Richard and Virginia (Curtis) Cook. Sheila shared a deep and meaningful life with her family, finding her greatest joy in the outdoors, whether she was tending to her yard work or spending time fishing or boating with her late husband on their pontoon at Lake Cowan. She had a vibrant energy and took great delight in dancing and the Christmas holiday. Above all else, her heart belonged to her family, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her daughter Kara and her husband Steve Gasaway, and her son Douglas and his wife Sandy Marine. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy as a grandmother to Skylar (Kelsey) Marine and Cassie (Lauren) Marine, and as a proud great-grandmother to Clayton, Harper Cassidy, and Piper Lee. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Sluggo" and Brenda Cook; multiple nieces, nephews, and other loved family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Sheila is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin "Dale" Marine, who passed away on March 8, 2026; and her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Phil Keadle.
