Walker Worthington Obituary

Walker James Richard Worthington, age 23, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Monday, June 14, 2021, at the Laurels of Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from complications of diabetes and pneumonia. He was born February 13, 1998, at Clinton Memorial Hospital into the loving arms of his parents, Michelle “Shelly” and Mark Worthington.  Walker loved working on bicycles, playing video games, muscle cars, watching demolition derbies, and his truck, “Ole Red”.  Walker had a big heart and an infectious laugh.  He had comforting words for all in need, and was wise beyond his years.  The world will be a bit darker without him.  All who knew him will remember the joy that radiated from his presence.  Fly high our beautiful Angel, we love you.  Walker is survived by his mother Michelle “Shelly” whom he knew as “Mama” of Washington C.H.; brother Gage “Bubba” Worthington of Washington C.H.; grandmother Joyce Worthington; aunts Erin “Sissy” and her husband Fredie Feltner of Sabina,  Margie “GiGi” and her husband Tony Smith, and Misty and her husband Sean Rugar; uncle Mike “Uncle Monkey” and his wife Amy Worthington; Godparents Kathy “God Mommy Kat” Young and Jeff “God Daddy” Hurst; cousins Ariona “Nana” Brewer, Savarien “J-Bird” Brewer, Draeyden “Draey-Draey” Brewer, Pyper “Py” Feltner, Sonny Feltner, Keiaira Worthington, Nathan Smith, Jason Clark, Jeromy Clark, Travis Clark, and Sarah Clark; honorary brothers, Cole Hackworth and Conlee Holbert; honorary sister, Kendra Holbert; two of his closest friends, Dylan Goodwin and Donald “Don” Hubbell; and many extended family and friends.  Walker is preceded in death by his father Mark Worthington; grandfather Steve “Papaw” Worthington; grandmother Linda “Kay” “Grammy” Clark; grandfather Layman Clark; uncle Dwayne Clark; and aunt Lisa Pauley.  Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Everyone is asked to “come as you are”.  T-shirts, jeans, or comfortable clothing is requested, Walker would want all to be comfortable.  For more information, or to leave an on-line condolence, please visit www.arehart-brown.com, or see our Facebook page, Brown Funeral Home.
