Wayne Woten Obituary

Wayne Bruce Woten, 70, passed away July 5, 2024, at his home in Wilmington, Ohio. He was born on September 21, 1953, in Wilmington to Carl and Pauline Woten.

He is survived by his beloved bride of 46 years, Debra (Roehm) Woten. As a devoted father, he found immense pride and joy in his children, Leslie and Kevin, and embraced Justin Holbrook and Destiny Gibson as cherished members of his family through their marriages. His greatest happiness, however, shone brightly in his role as Grandpa to his three adored grandsons, Landon, Loukas, and Carter, for each of whom he would move mountains.

Forever a Falcon, Wayne graduated from Clinton-Massie High School in 1972 and, while raising his kids, returned to school to earn a bachelor's degree from Wilmington College. A natural planner and talented engineer, Wayne found success in manufacturing and ended his career at Candle-lite Company in Leesburg, Ohio. Personally, he was a lifelong and ardent traveler, frequently spending weeks at the beach or on the road exploring various destinations in his RV. He was eagerly preparing for a trip to Yellowstone National Park with his family, emphasizing how much he valued his grandsons experiencing it's wonders, when he unexpectedly passed away.

He will be most fondly remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family - he relished retirement winters in Florida with Debra; was the dad who savored wedding dress shopping with his daughter; was always there with a truck and helping hand for home projects with his son; and spent countless days playing mini golf, checking out aircraft, cheering at flag football games and just kidding around with his grandsons.

Known for his listening ear, love of a good supreme pizza or scoop of black raspberry ice cream and laughing at an inside joke, Wayne will deeply be missed by many friends and family. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, yet his legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
