William Eugene “Bill” Rein, I, age 64, of Sabina, died Saturday, May 8, 2021 in the emergency room at Clinton Memorial Hospital. He was born June 25, 1956 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of Waldemar and Harlene (Grooms) Rein. Bill had been a mechanic at Airborne Express for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Sabina Moose Lodge #1244 and ABATE. He had played guitar since the age of two. He was the last surviving member of “Sidewinder” band. He was lead guitarist, vocalist, and played the harmonica in “Sidewinder”. Bill is survived by Mona Culberson, who he considered his wife, and had been with for more than 26 years; son William Eugene “Billy” Rein, II of Sabina; step-daughters, Amber Fulton of Wilmington and Autumn (Shawn) Collins of Mason; grandchildren, Chance, Aspyn, Aiden, Kaylee, Brooke, and Grayson; mother Harlene Rein of Wilmington; brother Jeff and his wife Dee Rein of Wilmington; niece Brittany (Jeremy) Kessler of Sabina; nephew Ace (Angie) Mann of Wilmington; and many friends. Bill is preceded in death by his father Waldermar Rein; son Harley Dennis Rein; and niece Chastity Rein. Funeral Services will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at the Faith Lutheran Church. Pastor Joel Richter will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington, is assisting the family.
